Depth – Can be used at almost all levels except top water.
Colors and patterns – Many choices.
Fishing for – This lure is good for anything that swims. If the fish eats shrimp, it will like this lure.
Setup – Use a loop knot tied to the lure, which lets it move more naturally. Tie the leader directly to the line.
Where to use these lures – Anywhere and everywhere try this lure. Use this lure under and around structure, and in the flats and channels.
Technique – Make a long cast and let the lure sink down to the bottom. Reel in the slack, and give a quick snap of the pole to make the lure come off the bottom approximately 4 or 5 inches. Let it sink back to bottom and repeat. In a current, if possible, cast up current and slowly reel in the slack line so the bait is swimming to you. Give little twitches here and there to help make it look real. NOTE: Shrimp do not swim up current.
Angler ability – This is a great bait for beginner and advanced anglers. It is very easy to use.
Additions – Before using this bait, it is good to pull the bait down the hook a little showing the shaft of the hook. Put a drop of super glue on the hook, and push the bait back to its original position. This will help in making the lure last longer and catch more fish. Also, you can put tube rattles inside the lure to create noise, which helps to attract the fish to the lure.
Notes from Randy - This is a must-have in every tackle box. I have had times that snook would not eat a real shrimp, but I give them this and they smash it! Is it possible to make something better then the real thing? It may not be better, but it’s really close.
